这就是把历史细节碾碎编织入故事情节做得比较好的典型，每个角色的思维、观念、言行举止都带有**特征。背景是1812年。其实是个群像戏，借由主角Talbot的视角来观察和讲述一艘航向澳洲的**海军军舰兼客船上的众生态。舰长、军官、普通水手和最底层的水手、形形**的乘客（有长辈荫蔽要去澳洲入职的特权阶级子弟、牧师、艺术家、教育家、***、律师助理etc）。我比较关注的是舰上军官，总体来讲没有特别喜欢的角色，军官角**有些复杂不单纯，包括J叔的舰长在内。这艘先天不足的船在这段长航程里经历了海上能经历的大部分危险，除了没跟**佬干上架。习俗方面有野蛮的过赤道仪式和舰上舞会。结局对我而言不太舒适，因为我并不关心主角爱情上能不能HE，我关心大副能不能天道酬勤，事实证明并不能，大副太惨了。但这个结局对剧是有意思的。
