表面是对Henry Wellcome爵士存放医学收藏品的地窖的随机参观，实际上是为了展现博物馆承载的包括医学在内的科学的意义以及关于生死的哲学思考。片头的楼梯代表了人类的历史，参观者打开大门、爬楼梯、开灯暗示着博物馆承载的科学打开人类文明的大门，推动着人类的进步，为人类带来光明。钥匙打开**带暗示性知识带来性解放；接生椅展示生理知识推动助产技术发展；***实了**知识解决**问题；息肉手术钳展示机械知识推动手术的发展；义肢更是直接解决了**问题。骷髅与墓碑代表死亡，与性代表的生对比，激发人们的哲学思考。就像剪掉的头发会再生一样，墓碑旁边会长出如烟的柳树，死同时也孕育着生。就像人类的历史就是从生到死，又从死到生，然后通过博物馆等形式将知识和经验积累，最终实现人类文明的不断进步。
